With over a decade of experience, Peak Playgrounds specialise in playground equipment and outdoor classrooms for schools and nurseries. If you are a head teacher, councilor or administrator and you’d like to access high-quality outdoor play area services look no further. We have our own workshops and can design bespoke equipment to get as much play value as possible from your budget. Simply tell us your preferences and we’ll create a scheme that incorporates physical, imaginative and sensory experiences for your students.
School & Nursery Playground Equipment
Peak Playgrounds have installed play equipment at infant and Junior schools throughout the UK. Our aim is to provide as much play value as possible within your budget.
Our play equipment combines the best of imaginative and physical challenges to help continue development outside of the classroom. You can customise each item with rock walls, cargo nets, easy access stairs and slides for fast escapes. We also provide sensory and musical play experiences with our range or springers, outdoor musical instruments and educational play panels.
What school year groups is your play equipment suitable for?
We have play towers and activity centres suitable for all school ages and year groups including nursery, infants (Reception year to Year 2), Juniors (School Years 3 to 6) moving on th Seniors up to Key Stage 3.
I’ve seen something I like elsewhere, can you provide it for us?
If you have seen something you like from another provider let us know and we will try and source it for you. As an independent play equipment provider we can order products from a selection of other manufacturers. Some of our equipment like our roundabouts are supplied by big names in the industry allowing us to create your ideal play space.
Do you provide landscaping for school playgrounds?
No playground would be complete without safety surfacing and landscaping. Peak Playgrounds can install a variety of safety surfaces to brighten up your playground including coloured wetpour, bonded rubber mulch, playground markings and graphics. We also provide high quality fencing, benches, bins and all of the other finishing touches to complete your design.
Outdoor Classrooms & Shelters
Our outdoor classrooms, pavilions and shelters provide a variety of options for outdoor learning for schools and nurseries. Whether you are looking to add to an existing nature area or are running out of space and need another classroom, we can provide a high quality wooden building to suit your needs.
The fully enclosed models can be used all year round and can be fitted with amphitheatre seating, benches, desks, blackboards and whiteboards to create an effective teaching environment. Our partially enclosed option can be fitted with roll-down canvas windows and doors so you don’t have to cancel your outdoor lesson plan if it rains. We can make square, rectangular, octagonal and modular shelters depending on your needs.
Our buildings can be used as after school club rooms, community centres, libraries, art studios, nature-rooms and staff rooms.
Will I need planning permission for an outdoor classroom?
A typical outdoor classroom falls below 30m2 falling under the requirements of building regulations. Approval is not required in a majority of cases. We can also provide shelters over 30m2 for when larger classrooms spaces are required.
Activity Trails and Outdoor Fitness Equipment
Peak Playgrounds range of fitness equipment is a great way to get your students active. We can install full outdoor gyms and activity trails or trim trails that combine balance, coordination and strength. Our experts can advise you on the best activity trail equipment to provide a good variety of physically challenging activities.

As part of our service we can offer advice on sources of funding for playground equipment and outdoor education projects. We are happy to help.
Working in partnership with the RSPB
As a business based in the Peak District we are keen to help the next generation learn about our surroundings. Working with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds we developed the Peak Playgrounds Nature Watch Hut. Every nature watch hut comes complete with RSPB education packs and activities to help get kids interested in the local environment.
